The Bank of New York to Host Seminar on its Clearing Businesses

NEW YORK, October 13, 2005 - The Bank of New York Company, Inc. announced today that it will hold an investor seminar on its clearing businesses on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 10:30 a.m. EDT. Company President Gerald L. Hassell will host the seminar, which will include presentations by Richard F. Brueckner, chief executive officer of Pershing LLC; Brian T. Shea, chief operating officer of Pershing LLC; and Arthur Certosimo, executive vice president of broker-dealer services. The seminar will include information about the Company, its businesses and future outlook.
